If you had COVID-19, symptoms could last for weeks or years. This is called “Long COVID” or “Post-COVID.”
Anyone who has had COVID-19 can get Long COVID. Women, older people, those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19, and Hispanic-Latinos are more likely to get Long COVID.
Long COVID can cause symptoms like:
- Being tired
- Fever
- Cough
- Chest pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Change in smell or taste
- Headache
- Stomach pain
There is no test for Long COVID. Only a doctor can tell you if you have it. If you feel sick, wash your hands, wear a mask, and, if possible, stay home. Contact a doctor if you need to.
The best way to avoid Long COVID is to get the COVID-19 vaccine and boosters.
